Renegade Spirit UK SOLD
This is a very special Renegade. To the best of my knowledge, it is the only one in the UK with the BMW RT1200 motorcycle engine.
The BMW RT1200 is a two-cylinder four stroke boxer engine with electronic fuel injection. It is a very well proven and reliable engine with easy access to parts through BMW dealers (or even eBay). The conversion was done by the previous owner, Ron Haslam and the modification was approved by LAA in 2014. All the correspondence (huge amount!) between Ron and LAA is available and will come with the aircraft. The original BMW ECU/ignition has been swapped for the MoTEC M84 racing ignition which is programmable. Just the ECU costed 2000 euros- receipt of purchase available in the aircraft file. The CD with the current engine mapping and software to download engine data will come with the aircraft.
The Renegade is a very strong and responsive tail dragger (aerobatic in USA) with very benign flight characteristics. It is a delight to fly! Fully serviced following a typical British winter and check flown by the local instructor/test pilot. No expense spared. It is registered as a single seater microlight with 390Kg maximum gross weight. However, dual controls are still installed on the aircraft. It is permitted until 22/07/2022.
Some other features: Ecoprop propeller, twin tanks and header tank with original BMW fuel pump, accessory fuel pump (redundant system for peace of mind), USB port to access ECU, 5-point aerobatic harnesses, Lynx intercom, Icom 8.33 radio and USB power outlet. It will also come with a Lynx helmet and Lynx headset for the warmer days.
It flies beautifully and any inspection is welcome. You need to see to appreciate the work that has been done. This is a reluctant sale as my work circumstances have changed and I have relocated to Newcastle without being able to complete my tail dragger conversion. The aircraft is located at Watnall, Nottinghamshire.
