DR400/140 £39,950
This won’t hang about. There are very few good sub £40k four-seat aeroplanes, let alone ones that have had the same owner for nearly 30 years and the same engineer for the last 25 years. One thing about buying a DR400 is that you are getting an aeroplane that has lived its life indoors, and that is a very desirable thing.
G-BAKM is a 1972 Robin DR400/140 Earl with 4586hrs TTAF. The 150 hp Lycoming O-320-E2A engine has 1463hrs SMOH in October 1997 at Dukieries. The engine has ran 573hrs since the Rebuild in 2012 at Deltair with when the camshaft and followers were replaced by Deltair, along with the top-end overhaul. The last compressions at annual were 74/72/74/76, and oil consumption is minimal. The Sensenich 74DM6S5-2-64 propeller has 847hrs SPOH in April 1997. The nose leg fitted in 2018 has a 4000-hour life and has just 343hrs on it. The aircraft is in ARC/Annual until Feb 2026.
The DR400/140 has two tanks, a fuselage tank and an auxiliary tank, totalling 160 litres. Cruise speed would be in the 105- 110 kt range, and the engine is nice and sweet. They feel like a helicopter in the air with the great visibility and small stick movements required.
Avionics are a King AS248A Audio Panel, Trig TY96 8.33Khz Com, King KX170B Nav/Com, Trig TT31 Mode S with new ACK Encoder, King KR85 ADF and King KN62A. There is a towbar and a Cover for Kilo Mike included with the sale.
